Boulder Dash is one of those perfect ideas: dig tunnels through the dirt, grab the diamonds, and do not let the boulders you just undermined land on your head. Rockford blinks at you impatiently while you plan, and then the plan dies the moment something starts falling. Physics as level design, years before anyone called it that.

I kept coming back to this one, and to its sequels too, both Boulder Dash 2 and 3 ended up in my collection. There was always one diamond too many that I could not resist, and the rockslide that followed was always my own fault. That is what made it brilliant.
