Taito took Breakout, gave the bat a name, the Vaus, and added falling power-up capsules: lasers, a catch mode, the wide bat, the break-out escape. Simple to start, endless to master, with the silver bricks that need two hits and the gold ones that mock you forever.

The C64 conversion was tight where it counted, in the paddle feel. The E capsule was the sensible pick, the L capsule was the fun one, and whoever decided the ball should speed up exactly when you got cocky knew what they were doing ;)
